“My grandaughter, Faith Stone has Cystic Fibrosis,” said Patt Simmons, organizer of the event. “She is 11 years old. My whole network of Friends and Family have worked so very hard to raise money tofund thenecessary research to find a cure. We have had many Great StridesWalks, Golf Tournaments, Poker Runs, Bonanzas, Chili Cook-Off”s and now this year a 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m. preceding the ‘Hot Monkey BIG Cook-Off’!” (See Calendar section.)

Adult clinical treatment trails have recently been completed, with positive results(and are beginning childrens clinical trails) for a new drug, Vertex 770, Simmons noted. Thisnew drug is the drug that targets my grandaughters specific gene defect.

“So now we have to work even harder to ensure that we have the necessaryfunding for this research,” she added.
