SVFD Apple Butter Festival set Oct. 31

The Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department will be having its annual Apple Butter Festival Saturday, Oct. 31, at the fire department, located along W.Va. 45 just west of town.

The festival is a major fund-raising event for the organization, with arts and crafts, bake sale items and apple butter sales.

Breakfast is served from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., with lunch starting at 11:30 a.m. Other delicious foods will be available for sale all day. Advance orders for apple butter made on site will be taken Saturday, the day of the festival with pick-up available that day and Sunday.

The public is invited to watch apple butter being made or join in the fun.

(Note: No advance orders for apple butter accepted before Saturday. There are no additional spaces available for vendors.)

Volunteers needed for apple prep

The Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department is recruiting volunteers to help with preparing apples for its annual Apple Butter Festival Saturday, Oct. 31, at the fire department, located along W.Va. 45 just west of town.

Throughout the week of Oct. 25, helpers are needed during the day and evening hours at the fire station.

Then, on Saturday, Oct. 31, starting at 5 a.m., the department will need help firing the kettles and stirring apples all day. Any help during the Oct. 25 week or on festival day is greatly appreciated, members said. There will be lots of fun (not all work). For additional information, call (304) 876-6038 or (304) 876-6686.
