If you vote in table games, you reap what you sow
I am so happy to be living in Jefferson County so I can be close to my two granddaughters. It is for their safety and wellbeing that I am going to vote “NO” to table games on Dec. 5. I am morally opposed to gambling and the very idea of turning Charles Town into another Las Vegas is frightening.
I want my granddaughters to have a safe future right here. The values of hard work and saving will be the values I teach them, not the get-rich-quick schemes of gambling.
I was always taught you reap what you sow. If we plant more gambling in this town, what do you think we’ll reap?
Gambling destroys families, and children pay the price. More gambling will lead to more problem gamblers and that will result in more broken families, domestic violence, child neglect and child abuse.
The destruction of our families is far too high a price to pay.
