Homelessness awareness event

By Staff | Nov 13, 2009

Got a roof? Got fuel to keep you warm? Got a way to get to work, and work to do? All those things are blessings that most of us take for granted. Yet, after years of living middle class lives, people here in Jefferson County are struggling on the verge of homelessness – or have already fallen over the edge .

The National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger & Homelessness invite you to join them for a simple soup supper at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church Parish Center, 106 S. Duke Street (lots of parking behind the building), Shepherdstown on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 6 p.m. until 9 pm. Soup, salad, bread, and beverage will be provided, and a discussion on homelessness will be led by David Gross during the meal. Following, there will be a viewing a movie about a homeless classical musician, “The Soloist.”

A donation of $5 will go to support Bethany House Women’s Shelter, Martinsburg. If you can’t stay for the movie, please join us for the meal and discussion.
