Help bring holiday cheer to local nursing home
I am the recreation director for Canterbury Center in Shepherdstown.
I am contacting local businesses to see if we can’t make something special happen for our residents.
On Dec. 16, we had a wonderful annual Christmas party where churches adopted residents and generously bought them gifts from their wish lists. It was perfect.
We would love to be able to provide our residents with a gift bag on Christmas morning so that Christmas does not “feel” just like any other day in the nursing home. Staff, churches and other local groups have been giving small items and we just need gift bags.?If you would like to donate gift bags or gift cards so we may purchase additional items for the gift bags, please contact me. We need 60 gift bags. Any donations would NOT be tax deductible, but would be greatly appreciated.
Our January letter to all the families will include a thank you to all the businesses, churches and groups that helped make this holiday season a success.
Besides Christmas, I am also looking for businesses interested in “sponsoring” our monthly birthday party entertainment. Our center does not have live entertainment during our birthday parties because our budget does not allow for it. If you would like to sponsor a month’s birthday party for 2010, you will receive a free business card ad placed in our monthly newsletter, as well as, mention of your business as the sponsor of the party. At this moment all months are open. I am looking for sponsorships of $50-$100. The type of paid entertainment will depend upon the amount of that month’s sponsorship.
Thank you for your consideration
