Local man stabbed at Tony’s
26 year old Shepherdstown resident Kyle Anthony Wilson was stabbed early Thursday morning during an altercation at Tony’s Pizza & Stonewalls Underground Pub on East German Street.
A press release issued by the Shepherdstown Police Department reports that officers were notified of the stabbing at about 1:23 a.m. on Thursday morning. Once on the scene, officers found Wilson with stab wounds to his left side, under his arm. Wilson was transported to City Hospital in Martinsburg by the Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department, where he remained overnight for observation. The injuries were not life-threatening.
According to Shepherdstown Police officer David Ransom, in an interview following this morning’s regular municipal Police Committee meeting, an investigation into the incident is underway, and police are searching for persons of interest for questioning. The fight occurred in the basement dance floor area of Tony’s known as Stonewall’s Underground Pub.
Wednesday nights at Tony’s are marketed as “College Night”, and the weekly event draws a large crowd which can sometimes get rowdy at closing time, says the Shepherdstown Police Department. Officer Ransom did note, however, that the Wednesday night crowd has recently been less of a problem than before.
Police activity logs published in the Shepherdstown Chronicle frequently document the police engaging in crowd control activities following College Night at Tony’s, when the departing patrons spill out onto German Street.
