CTRS raises $55,000 for United Way

By Staff | Jan 29, 2010

At Charles Town Races & Slots, “Living United” isn’t just the slogan for the United Way service campaign- it’s a way of life! In 2009 CTRS and its employees proved to be “good neighbors” and give back to the local community throughout the year. With events such as Jeans & Jerseys, Day of Caring, the Leadership Carwash, Employee Golf Tournament, various silent auctions, and payroll deductions, the combined company and employee contribution total for 2009 is $55,000 for the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle. Last year, Charles Town Races & Slots received, for the third time, the award for being the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle’s business partner with the highest level of giving with over $50,000 donated.

Bill Bork, Database Manager at Charles Town Races & Slots and co-chair of the CTRS United Way Committee, said with enthusiasm, “In these difficult economic times, we still have employees that are willing to contribute and make a difference. It shows a true commitment to our core value # 3-Be a Good Neighbor.” Al Britton, General Manager at CTRS, stated, “Our contributions exceeded last year. And with the upcoming addition of approximately 500 new employees due to the addition of table games, 2010 should be another record year.”
