Consider volunteering for Friends in Action

By Staff | Feb 5, 2010

You Can Make a Difference in the lives of a Low-Income Family

Friends in Action is an organization that assists underprivileged families in our community to set and achieve goals toward greater self-sufficiency and a better way of life.

Friends in Action recruits, trains and links teams of 5-8 mentor volunteers to work with families in need. Each team “adopts” a low-income family for one year and provides friendship, mentoring, advocacy, tutoring and more to help the family maximize their independence and reach their individual goals.

Friends in Action is currently working with seven families and have four new families who are eager for the help and support of a team.

We have over 50 volunteers working with our families, but there is a great need for new volunteers to form teams.

Please consider attending our volunteer training on Feb. 11 and Feb. 18 at St. Agnes Parish Center in Shepherdstown. Contact Kalie Potter or Alex Beaulieu at (304) 876-8500 or at kpotter@fiaep.org for more info.
