Session set on Library plans
Landfill to Library!
Conference will address Brownfields and a new vision for the Shepherdstown Public Library
“Learning to Adapt” is the theme of a free conference to be held on Saturday, June 5, in the Byrd Center for Legislative Studies auditorium. The Shepherdstown Library is exploring the possibility of building a new, green, state-of-the-art library and community learning center on the site of the old Shepherdstown municipal dump (a designated Brownfield), located adjacent to the Clarion Hotel. Please join us to learn what is involved in cleaning up a Brownfield, and to hear about the vision for a new library.
Speakers will include representatives from the Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center, the W.Va. Department of the Environment, the Shepherdstown Public Library, and other regional redevelopment examples. There will be a question and answer session as well.
The conference is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and registration; the conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is free to all participants, and the conference will run until 2:30 p.m.
