SHEPHERDSTOWN – Shepherdstown has issued 296 parking passes since the start of the fiscal year, when new permits are issued. Parking permits are good for one year, from July 1 to June 30.

Shepherdstown Police Department staff said the total breaks down to 156 residential passes, 22 tenant passes, 90 guest passes, 22 employee passes and six nonprofit passes.

The residential pass features a depiction of a grove of pine trees and a water wheel set inside orange borders. The tenant pass, used by residents living in apartment buildings with no private parking, features a large “T” with a background of a road and trees. The guest passes are bright orange, and the employee passes are a blue mirror hanger.

Residential parking passes are priced on a sliding scale based on the number requested. The first residential pass costs $5, the second costs $30 and a third residential pass registered to one address will cost $50. Residents are allowed a maximum of three residential parking passes and one guest pass, which costs $5.

Tenant parking passes also are priced on a sliding scale, with a maximum of two per residence. The first pass costs $5, the second costs $50.
