LEETOWN -The Jefferson County Fair kicked off this week, bringing with it the usual sights, sounds and smells so closely associated with this classic piece of Americana.
In addition to the rides and games, there were plenty of other activity as well. One could watch students lazing about during the day, soaking up the last bit of summer recreation. Others were involved in FFA livestock shows. Some simply came to have a leisurely stroll through the grounds.
The fair also is an important fundraiser for many local nonprofits and charities. Chronicle photographer Michael Theis visited the fair this week and returned with these enduring scenes of summer fun.
