Police still seek bank robbery suspect

SHEPHERDSTOWN – Police still are on the lookout for a suspect in the robbery of the BB&T Bank at 8327 Martinsburg Pike late last month.

The suspect was described as a black man about 6 feet tall and weighing around 180 pounds, West Virginia State Police said in a news release. The suspect concealed his face during the robbery and was wearing dark clothes.

The press release did not indicate if a weapon was involved.

Police said the suspect fled on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

The call come into Jefferson County 911 at 2:24 p.m. Aug. 27, and the primary responding unit was the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the West Virginia State Police in the Charles Town Detachment, the Shepherdstown Police Department and Shepherd University Police, according to Jefferson County 911 emergency dispatchers.

The investigation is ongoing and being handled by the West Virginia State Police Charles Town Detachment. The FBI and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department are assisting the State Police.
