‘Toni’ West is named SU assistant basketball coach
SHEPHERDSTOWN – Shepherd University head women’s basketball coach, Melanie Ford, recently announced that Antoinette “Toni” West has joined the Ram coaching staff as an assistant coach.
“Toni has a true basketball mind,” Ford said. “Her experience and enthusiasm in recruitment, strength and conditioning, academic development and community service has and will continue to make an impact on our team. Toni has spent time in various levels of collegiate coaching. This experience provides a wealth of knowledge in all areas of the game.”
Prior to coming to Shepherd, West was the head women’s basketball coach at California State University East Bay. She also has served as head coach at Las Positas College and has worked as an assistant at San Francisco State University, San Joaquin Delta College, and DeAnza College.
West earned her bachelor’s degree from San Jose University and has a master’s degree from St. Mary’s College of California. She is a NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy graduate and also attended the NCAA Division II Leadership Academy.
