Clancy to perform at Shepherd

By Staff | Oct 8, 2010

Ireland’s own Aoife Clancy, from the country’s celebrated Clancy family, will perform Oct. 15 at Shepherd University’s Reynolds Hall.

The event, sponsored by Shepherdstown Music and Dance, will feature the folk music from traditional Irish songs to ballads and more contemporary music of Clancy. Clancy, who is originally from Carrick-on-Suir in Ireland, started playing with her father, Bobby Clancy, and his band, Clancy Brothers, at the age of 14.

Admission for the event is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for SMD members, $8 for students and free for SU students with a Rambler ID. This is the second event SMD is presenting in its International Concert Series, “Roots and Branches of Appalachian Music.”
