Story-writing contest now accepting submissions for contest
Historic Shepherdstown is sponsoring a story-writing contest for local middle-school-aged students as part of the Christmas in Shepherdstown Celebration.
Students aged 11 – 14 are invited to submit original stories set in Shepherdstown in the 1860s. The characters or events can be real or fictional, but the setting should reflect Shepherdstown life in that time period. The stories should be typed or handwritten, one side only, with numbered pages. They should be 750 to 1000 words in length. Each should include a cover page listing the story’s title and author.
Prizes are first place, $150, second place, $75, and third place $50.
Stories should be mailed to Historic Shepherdstown, P.O. Box 1786, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, postmarked no later than Nov. 30.
