Christmas Bazaar starts Nov. 26

By Staff | Nov 12, 2010

The Shepherdstown Men’s Club is putting the final touches on preparations for its Christmas Bazaar. Currently 20 vendors have signed up and the club anticipates others before the doors open on Nov. 26.

Club President Mike Austin said many prior-year vendors are back as well as new ones from the Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania areas.

The club has extended the operating hours of the bazaar and added a food vendor who will serve holiday snacks and drinks in the upstairs kitchen. Vendor displays will be arranged on both floors. The bazaar will be held on Nov. 26, 27 and 28 and Dec. 4, 11 and 18, from noon until 8 p.m. on Nov. 26 and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on all other days.

A wide variety of handmade items will be on sale including jewelry, wood crafts, stained glass, gourmet foods, jams, jellies, honey, holiday greens, pottery, quilts, hats, gloves and other clothing accessories and seasonal gifts. Many are made from locally produced materials using traditional craftsmanship methods.

Austin added that “hand-worked items that reflect personal workmanship and that preserve traditional crafts and skills make wonderful gifts. Their intrinsic value always exceeds the cost.”
