‘Carol’ to be performed

By Staff | Nov 26, 2010

“A Christmas Carol” will make a return to the Full Circle Theater Company as part of the Christmas season.

“A Christmas Carol,” which was written by Mike Paller and first produced in Cleveland, Ohio in 1978, is directed by Robin Depietro-Jurand. Ten individuals make up the cast.

“It’s a great cast who has worked hard to bring this play to life. I think it will be a wonderful production,” Depietro-Jurand said.

The cast includes Joseph Jurand, Owen Buede, Homer Speaker, Ryan Reynolds, Ty Unglebower, Peter Callahan, Kimberly Parr, Donovan Bakin, Theresa DiAmario and Sandra DaRocha.

“It’s a challenge to adapt to so many different characters. It’s been fun. I like stretching my talents. I think the audience will enjoy the story,” said Speaker, who is playing four parts in the play.

Depietro-Jurand, who will play Dickens and Scrooge, also thinks it’s a challenge to play more then one part. He thinks that the show is unique in that it is a play within a play.

“I look forward to playing two parts. I think the audience will have fun with the characters. This is a different type of Scrooge. In this play he will have more of a sense of humor. He is light hearted,” Depietro-Jurand said.

This year the theater company started a new program called “Join Tiny Tim,” which is a program to help the hungry this holiday season by collecting food.

“At every performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ the Full Circle Theater Company will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items and will pass them on to Jefferson County Community Ministries to aid them in their work to feed and clothe the needy in our community,” Depietro-Jurand said.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays Nov. 26 through Dec. 5 at 8 p.m.

The next production at the Full Circle Theater will be “Claudie Hukill” by Sean O’Leary. The play will be directed by Laura Richards Bakin. Dates for the show are Feb. 4 though 13, 2011 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

The Full Circle Theater Company was founded by DePietro-Jurand, Richards Bakin and DePietro-Jurand, who serve as co-artistic directors and co-managing directors.
