Plow trucks now out in ‘full force’
As snow began to fall upon Shepherdstown Thursday morning, just five days before the first day of winter, the town’s Public Works Committee was working to get the plow trucks ready to treat the streets.
Frank Welch, director of Public Works, said the first truck went out at around 11:30 a.m. but that the department had another matter to deal with.
During a phone interview just before 2 p.m., he said, “We’re out in full force now.”
Two trucks are plowing roads and a salt mixture is being poured behind.
Welch said throughout the season he and his crew will keep an eye on the roads and make sure they are treated in a timely manner.
In the mean time, Welch advises drivers to slow down on the roads and don’t go fast because then their vehicles won’t stop.
