Barbara B. Walter

Barbara B. Walter, formerly of Lititz, Pa., died on Dec. 5 at Reeders Nursing Home in Boonsboro, Md. Born in Lititz on May 29, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary B. Bechtel. She was the widow of Dr. Henry Walter, Jr. who died in 1974.

A member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation, Barbara graduated from Linden Hall School for Girls in Lititz. A former Power’s model she also attended the Institute of Musical Art of the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She was an accomplished toleware painter, an award winning spinner and weaver and past part owner of Hen House Studios at her home in Kissel Hill.

Her volunteer work included the Landis Valley Museum, Lancaster Historical Society, and Board Member at Linden Hall. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary W. Foor and spouse, Rev. Dr. R. Terrence Foor, of Hagerstown, Md.; a son, Henry Walter, III and spouse, Dale D. Walter, of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz, Pa., preceded by a visitation with the family in the Eschbach Parlor at the church for one hour prior to the service.
