Local farm market seeks vendors for 2011

By Staff | Jan 14, 2011

The Shepherdstown Farm Market, the oldest growers market in the Panhandle, is seeking vendors for participation in the Shepherdstown Farm Market 2011 season, which will begin in April and extend to Dec. 18.

The market is looking for vendors that consider themselves “specialty crop growers” with vegetable crops not commonly seen at local markets, such as artichokes and purple asparagus.

These vendors should be creative and be able to fill a niche in the market with the addition of new products in the vegetable line.

The market is also accepting applications from vendors for artisan cheeses, artisan bread and dairy products. Interested vendors must attend the first market meeting which is on Tuesday in Bardane at the 4-H and Extension office on Wiltshire Road off of U.S. Route 9 at the Bardane exit, west of the State Police barracks.

The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Interested vendors should contact Paul Elliott at 304-876-3437 for an application.
