Stroke, Osteoporosis screenings coming to church
Residents living in and around Shepherdstown can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture.
Covenant Baptist church will host Life Line Screening on Feb. 16. The church is located at 7485 Shepherdstown Pike, one mile south of O’Hurley’s General Store.
There are four things you should know to determined if you should get screened:
Strokes are the third leading cause of death and leading cause of permanent disability;
80 percent of stroke victims had no apparent warning signs prior to their stroke;
Preventive ultrasound screenings can help you avoid a stroke; and
Screenings are fast, non-invasive, affordable and convenient.
Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries, irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries on the legs.
Packages start at $139. All five screenings take 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
