By Staff | Jan 28, 2011

Boys and girls from Shepherdstown, ages 10 to 14, were named local champions of the 2011 Knights of Columbus free throw championships and have earned the right to compete at the district level. Council 13887 in Shepherdstown sponsored the local competition at Shepherdstown Middle School gym. All area youngsters, male and female, were eligible to participate.

Ethan Gottlieb was the winner of the 10-year-old boys division. In the 11-year-old’s bracket Amanda Biebel was the girls champion. Becca Colbert was the 12-year-old winner in the girls division, and Morgan Honk won in the boys division. The 13-year-old boys division was won by Mike Tennant, and Jennifer Biebel led the girls.

Each contestant was allowed 15 free throw attempts in the contest. Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held in February in Shepherdstown with an eye toward moving on to the state finals.
