Mary D. Enright

Mary D. Enright, 95 of Silver Spring Md., a social studies teacher in Montgomery County for 32 years, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011 at Sanctuary at Holy Cross Burtonsville, Burtonsville, Md.

Mrs. Enright was born near Harpers Ferry and was educated in her native state, graduating from Shepherd College, class of 1936. She received the Master of Arts degree from Duke University, class of 1943, and later took courses at the University of Maryland. In 1961, she received a Fullbright grant for study in Paris a L’Ecole d’Etudes Politiques and for travel in France.

After teaching nine years in West Virginia she moved to Montgomery County where she taught at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, and at Winston Churchill School in Potomac, Md., She retired in 1977. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Delta Kappa Gamma. She belonged to the NEA, MSTA, MCEA and to the corresponding retired teacher organizations.

Graveside Services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Carr officiating. There will be no visitation.
