John ”Jack” Joseph Quinn Jr. obituary
John “Jack” Joseph Quinn Jr., 68, of Harpers Ferry passed away on March 3 at his residence.
Born April 25, 1942 in Wheeling, W.V. He was the son of the late John Joseph Quinn and Mary Ellen Archer Quinn. He was a member of St. Ages Catholic Church in Shepherdstown.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a U.S. government computer specialist for 23 years and, later, a realtor for Long and Foster. Jack was a local Jefferson County farmer for 38 years and a founding member of the Farm Land Protection Board, helping to preserve countless farm acres in Jefferson County. He was a long term member of the Board of Directors for the Farm Bureau and WV Beef Limousine Association.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dotty Quinn, at home; two sons, Russ Quinn and wife, Vicki, of Harpers Ferry; and John Quinn and fiance, Tami, of Shepherdstown; two daughters, Julie Everhart and husband , Brian, of Shepherdstown, and Susan Smith and husband Tim of Kearneysville; ten grandchildren, Scott, Katya, Tyler, Madison, Emily, Jenna, Josey, Lane, Quint and Tori; two sisters, Janet Thomas and Peggy Chittal; one brother, Ed Quinn, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
The Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday March 7, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown, with the Rev. Fr. Matthew Rowgh as the Celebrant. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown.
The family received friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home- US340 at Halltown Road, Charlestown/Harpers Ferry, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A vigil prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV, 25403 or American Cancer Society, Jefferson County Chapter, C/O Patty Ott., 145 Donald Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
