By Staff | Mar 25, 2011

The 2011 Friends of Music Faculty Showcase concert is only one week away as the “Three Sopranos” take to the Frank Arts Center Theater stage on Saturday, April 2.

Sponsored by BB&T, the concert will feature performances by sopranos Brooke Evers, Natalie Conte and Elizabeth Turchi. Accompanied by Scott Beard, the program will include a range of selections from Mozart and Bizet to Stephen Sondheim and Cole Porter.

“It is always great when the concert series includes our own all-stars and such is the case with the ‘Three Sopranos’,” said Mark McCoy, chairman of the SU Department of Music, in a press release. “This concert is a special treat, showcasing the virtuosity of Shepherd faculty and presenting some of the most beloved arias and songs in the musical theater and opera world.”

As the Friends Concert Series season comes to a close, Masterworks Chorale is performing Haydn’s Creation on Sunday, May 1 at 7 p.m.

The Friends of Music is a non-profit organization that promotes musical excellence by supporting music programs and music education at Shepherd University and by enriching our community through the presentation of outstanding musical performances and opportunities for music education.
