Bettie Jane Jackson Tomlin obituary

Bettie Jane Jackson Tomlin died Friday March 25, 2001, widow of late husband Charles Harris Tomlin who died Nov. 8, 1999. Tomlin resided in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, and passed away at the National Health Care, Garden City, S.C., though she was formerly of Charles Town.

She was born in Jefferson County on Sept 29, 1915. Her parents were Francis Leighton Jackson and Ada E. (Smallwood) Jackson.

Tomlin was a homemaker. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, graduate of Charles Town High School, class of 1934. She was a member of the Jefferson County CEO’s, AARP, American Red Cross, and Meals on Wheels Food Bank.

She is survived by daughter, Imogene T. Skinner and husband Milton and grandchildren, Aaron Scott Skinner and Ashley Skinner Watkins and husband Mark, as well as great-grand children, Melody Anne Watkins and Kayla Marie Watkins of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She is also survived by her sisters Nancy Fiddler, and Joan Viands and was proceeded in death by sisters Mary Catherine Jackson and Eleanor Viands.

She was proceeded in death by eight brothers, William Jackson, Wilbur Jackson, James Jackson, Elmer Eugene Jackson, Nelson Jackson, George Jackson, Edward Jackson and Freddie Jackson.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, in Charles town, on March 30 at 11 a.m. Rev. Alvin Russell presided over services and burial took place at Edge Hill Cemetery.
