Holy Week activities, services set at Trinity
Trinity Episcopal Church, at the corner of Church and German Streets, will have the following Holy Week activities and services.
On Maundy Thursday, April 21, a Seder Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner will be a traditional Seder meal of lamb, roasted potatoes, etc. A service with commentary is part of this family evening. The cost for the dinner is $10 per adult and $5 per child. Following the Seder Dinner, there will be a service of Holy Eucharist and the Stripping of the Altar at 8 p.m. The Maundy Thursday through Good Friday Vigil will start at the end of the service Thursday evening and continue until 12 p.m. on Good Friday with the Prayer Book Liturgy for Good Friday being held at noon.
Trinity will also host the Ministerial Association’s three hour service on Good Friday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Local clergy will be reflecting on Jesus’ Seven Last Words from the Cross. Music and the opportunity for prayer and meditation will be offered during the three hour service. The Church will be open all day on Good Friday for prayer.
Trinity will have an Easter Eve service beginning at 5:30 p.m. on April 23. The service will include Holy Baptism and the lighting of the Pascal Candle which celebrates the “new light” of Easter. Please contact the church office (304-876-6990) if you wish to be baptized during this service.
Easter Day services are at 8 and 10 a.m. with Holy Eucharist, Sermon and the Flowering of the Cross at each service. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt following the 10 a.m. service.
