SU to sponsor Arbor Day event
Shepherd University will sponsor an Arbor Day tree planting event on Saturday, April 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Shepherd campus.
The day will be kicked off with a tree planting ceremony on the lawn of Miller Hall on West Campus at 12:30 p.m. where Shepherd President Suzanne Shipley will participate in the planting of a Pawpaw tree and several pine shrubs.
The day’s arboreal activities will then shift to the retention pond area behind the intramural field (near H-lot and the apartment residence halls), where student and faculty volunteers will plant 80 native trees funded by the Urban Tree Canopy grant through the West Virginia Division of Forestry and the Chesapeake Bay Program, in partnership with the Cacapon Institute.
