Wind Ensemble to take the stage April 15
The Shepherd University Wind Ensemble will perform April 15 at 8 p.m. at the Frank Center Theater, previewing pieces to be performed on their upcoming tour of Spain in May.
Free with admission is a pre-concert lecture describing the works beginning at 7 p.m.
The Wind Ensemble will offer an exciting program featuring music spanning 500 years. The program includes Americans We by Henry Fillmore, Third Suite by Robert Jager, Ging Heut’ Morgen Uber’s Feld by Gustav Mahler, Four Dances from West Side Story and Slava! by Leonard Bernstein, Amazing Grace by William Himes, and Ballet Sacra by David Holsinger.
The Shepherd Wind Ensemble, composed of music majors and a few select non-majors, is the premier wind group of Shepherd. Members are selected annually through competitive auditions. This ensemble has been invited to perform around the world, including Dublin, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna and Prague.
Admission and seating for the Wind Ensemble concert is on a first-come, first-served basis. The box office will open one hour prior to each performance. General admission is $10, $5 for students 18 and under and free to Shepherd students with Rambler ID and Friends of Music MAC Cardholders.
