‘Mindful Moving’ classes start May 25

By Staff | May 12, 2011

“Mindful Moving,” a movement class integrating yoga, dance and improvisation, will be taught by Kitty Clark on six consecutive Wednesday evenings, from May 25 through June 29. The class takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Shepherdstown Train Station.

“Mindful Moving” provides participants the opportunity to experience the mindfulness of yoga, the creativity of dance and improvisation and time for reflection. Adult and teen students of all levels are invited to attend and are asked to bring a yoga mat (journals optional). Early bird registration by May 18 is $72 ($60 for students); after May 18, the cost is $84 ($72 for students). A four-week option is also available. Payment can be sent to Clark at P.O. Box 1552, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.

After a six-month sojourn in Canada’s Pacific Northwest, Clark is in the Shepherdstown area for the summer to share an innovative approach to movement and creative expression. She founded and for 10 years directed Goose Route Arts Collaborative in Shepherdstown, an organization that produced the annual Goose Route Dance Festival and that brought artists of different genres together to create unique, multi-disciplinary performance pieces. She holds an MFA in dance from Smith College and is a certified vinyasa flow yoga instructor. Clark has taught movement to people of all ages and experience levels for more than 15 years.
