WVU-East holds open house
On Monday, May 23, WVUH-East’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital will host open house celebrations for both the newly built West Virginia University Medical Office Building and the Hospital’s recently remodeled Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. The WVU Medical Office Building, located directly across the street from Jefferson Memorial Hospital, is open for community tours from 45 p.m. Staff will be on hand to showcase the variety of services offered to the community. From 5-6 p.m., tours and an opportunity to meet the Rehabilitation Services Team will be held just one block from the hospital at the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center’s 114 East Third Avenue location.
A free community health talk, “Resources For Runners”, concludes the day’s event. The talk, to be held May 23 from 6:308 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Express, on Flowing Springs Road, in Ranson, will cover such topics as general running tips, injury prevention and treatment options available. Speakers for this event include Dr. Mark Cucuzzella, a nationally ranked distance runner, local physician and founder and organizer of Freedom’s Run and the new Two Rivers Heritage Half Marathon, Dr, Russell DeGroote, an orthopedic surgeon for WVUH-East and medical director for Jefferson Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, who has a special interest in preventative medicine, nutrition and sports medicine, along with Dr. Joshua Miller, Physical Therapist, and Manager of Rehabilitation Services at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
