All Aboard!

By Staff | May 27, 2011

On May 14, the Shenandoah and Potomac Valley Garden Railway Club donated a large-scale overhead model train display to Betty’s Restaurant in Shepherdstown. Members of the club, led by President Rick Sherbert presented a plaque to owner Regina Wines and manager Heather Renaud thanking them for allowing the club to install the first overhead G-scale train display in the area. Inspiration came from Renaud’s 7-year old son, Cameron, an avid train fan. Cameron’s love of trains came to the attention of two of Betty’s regulars, Gary and Sharon Tucker. Gary commented to Wines and Renaud that it ‘would be great to have an overhead train in the restaurant,’ ultimately leading to the club’s design, construction and installation of Betty’s G-scale rail line. The Shenandoah and Potomac Valley Garden Railway Club was established in 2001 and is made up of area residents who have a love of large-scale trains in various settings.  Many of their members have G-scale train layouts in their gardens. For more information about the club, visit www.spvgrc.org.
