RANSON West Virginia University Hospitals East’s Jefferson Memorial Hospital officials announced today that a letter of intent has been signed to acquire 50 acres of land near 340 South in Jefferson County to be used for the future site of a comprehensive new medical campus.

“We are thrilled to announce that the letter of intent has been signed for the acquisition of 50 acres of land near Charles Town. Our new campus will have capacity for an ambulatory center, medical office building, imaging center, wellness center, community educational space and a new hospital,” said Dr. Christina Coad, chief administrative officer at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, in a press release.

WVUH-East officials have been evaluating various land options in Jefferson County over the past several years.

“We have been very thorough in our search for land that will accommodate not only our current needs but allow for future growth,” Coad stated.

Officials determined that the land should be approximately 50 acres, near a high-speed highway that offered high visibility, and multiple entrances.

“This parcel of land meets all of our criteria,” Coad commented.

Now that the letter of intent has been signed, contract negotiations will be completed. According to Coad, the expectation is to close on the property by Labor Day.
