Plum, an independently owned jewelry store, has expanded and will be opening its new location at 108 E. German St. in Shepherdstown.
They will be celebrating with a grand opening party on Saturday, June 18 from 6 to 9 pm, which will be the first time the new location is formally showcased to the public. Owners Cari Aliveto Rosen and David Rosen, the Plum team and many of the artists whose work is featured at Plum will be on site during the event for a meet and greet and an evening filled with music, drinks and sweets.
Plum is a jewelry store which features many different items including custom silver jewelry by owner and artist, Cari Aliveto Rosen, other types of handcrafted jewelry, t-shirts, handmade hair accessories and many more “plum” finds, all created primarily by local artists and craftspeople.
“It’s nice for people to be able to appreciate all of the hard work and beautiful art created here in the Eastern Panhandle,” Rosen said in a press release. “We are always looking for new artists whose work will fit well in our shop.”
Plum is a growing business, but still remains a family affair with digitally enhanced photography done by Rosen’s husband and part owner of Plum, David Rosen.
Silver work and jewelry making was originally a side hobby for Rosen who was an elementary school teacher for seven years, when just over two years ago she decided to turn it into a business and opened Plum at its current location. It started off as primarily a studio space, but has been expanding ever since.
Plum now includes work from a handful of independent artists, companies and consigned work by eleven local artists. Rosen will also be using her teaching skills at Plum’s new location by offering a few free beginner jewelry making classes to promote other classes she will be offering later in the year.
