Ryan Film Institute to offer classes

Ryan Film Institute Founder and President Katherine Walsh Ryan and Vice President Claiborne B. Lashley, owner of Bright Guys Film & Video, received a check to support student scholarships and equipment for the institute’s 2011 program.

Ryan Film Institute is in its fifth year of presenting workshops such as “Shooting Digital Photography,” June 13 through 17; “Creating TV Commercial,” June 20 through 24; “Introduction to Filmmaking,” June 27 to July 1; “Comprehensive Short Films and Documentaries,” July 6 through 22; and “Marketing Student Films,” July 25 through 29.

Classes will be held in Knutti Hall, at the corner of High and King Streets in Shepherdstown, on Shepherd University’s campus, and on location throughout the Eastern Panhandle.

A Student Short Film Fest, with People’s Choice Awards, is an opportunity for students to share their projects with the community. It will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, location to be announced.
