Kirby awarded Kiwanis scholarship

The Paul M. Saab Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship for 2011 was awarded to Tori Kirby, a recent graduate of Jefferson High School. She is the daughter of Melissa and Doug Kirby of Shepherdstown.

Kirby was very active in the Key Club at JHS for four years and was a member of the West Virginia Key Club Board of Directors for two years. She has also been a very active volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Kirby plans to major in pre-medicine at Shepherd University with a pharmaceutical career in mind and to continue helping members of the community.

The Paul M. Saab Memorial Kiwanis Scholarship was established in 2001 to honor Paul Saab, a longtime professor of biology at Shepherd College and a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown.
