Nighttime burglary arrest made along Princess Street

A call was made to the Shepherdstown Police Department on Friday, June 24 reporting a possible burglary in progress.

The Shepherdstown Police Department arrested John Christoper Walker, Jr. early Friday, June 24 for nighttime burglary.

According to a release issued by Chief David Ransom, the SPD received a call at approximately 2:30 a.m. regarding a possible burglary in progress at 205 N. Princess St. in Shepherdstown. The SPD, along with officers from Shepherd University Police Department responded.

According to the release, Officer J. Kleiver of the Shepherd Police Department spotted an SUV leaving the area, traveling south on Princess Street. He stopped the SUV, indentifying two males inside, according to the release.

SPD officers K9 Cpl. J. Cummings and Officer M. King spoke to the victim, who stated he heard a door rattle behind him and then saw a white male exit the bathroom in that area and flee out the side door of the residence, the release stated.

That subject, according to the release, was identified by the victim as the person in the residence.

Walker was arrested and transported to the Eastern Regional Jail pending arraignment.

After an inmate search on Monday, June 27, no records of Walker were found.
