SPD looking for person of interest

Units responded to a home along Shoe Alley in Shepherdstown.

The Shepherdstown Police Department, along with surrounding units, responded to a call Thursday, June 23, of a possible home invasion regarding a fire arm in the area of North Shoe Alley in Shepherdstown.

According to a release sent out by Chief David Ransom, the SPD received the call at approximately 8:42 p.m.

According to the release, SPD, along with officers from Shepherd University Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the West Virginia State Police responded. The victim confirmed that a firearm was involved in the incident, and witnesses stated they saw a black male running west on West High Street away from Shoe Alley, according to the release.

K9 units from town and county departments tracked to the back door of 347 W. High St., indicating the suspect may be inside, according to the release.

The Jefferson County Special Response Team was called to the scene, clearing the residence, but the suspect was not there, the release stated.
