The Bridge Gallery Summer Exhibit, featuring new and returning artists, opens on Saturday, July 9, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m., and will run through Aug. 7.

Featured artists include the Mendez family from Pleasant Valley, Md. Antonio Mendez, showing sculpture, is nationally known for his large-scale bronzes. Jonna Mendez, a photographer, will share selections from images taken locally and globally, and Tony Mendez, now in his 56th year of painting, will exhibit colorful local landscapes.

From Frederick, Md., the Bridge welcomes illustrator and watercolor artist Richard Schlecht, who will be exhibiting his still-life images as well as scenes from the Italian countryside. Oil painter Paul Wilson, one of only two local artists invited to participate in the nationally advertised Plein Air “Easels” Art Event in Frederick this month, will be showing still life and portrait work.

Also from the Frederick area, Gavin Gardner, who has previously shown sculpture at the gallery, will be exhibiting oil paintings including a self portrait.

A special presentation of new oil paintings by West Virginia artist Diana Suttenfield will also be featured in the Entry Gallery as part of this exhibit.

Celebrating the return of the Contemporary American Theater Festival, the gallery will serve refreshments every Saturday and Sunday during the summer exhibit.
