Tucker opens Bistro112
Deborah Tucker, proprietor of the new Bistro112, purchased Stone Soup Bistro along West German Street and is currently holding a soft opening of the new restaurant, which features French cuisine.
Tucker said while the theme of the restaurant may have changed, the mission is still very much the same. Chef Liz Gallery, who has stayed on during the transition, will continue to create dishes from scratch with fresh, local products.
“Liz and I are good partners in working on this,” Tucker said. “I think it’s been a good transition.”
Tucker, who until recently worked in corporate marketing in Washington, D.C., was looking to make a career move. After looking at various towns still within driving distance to the city, she decided upon Shepherdstown, ultimately buying a house contingent upon the purchase of the restaurant.
“I’ve always appreciated good food,” she said. “It fulfilled all of the things I wanted to do for a new lifestyle change.”
Tucker, who admits to not have much cooking experience, said her priorities will be at the head of the house. She will focus on service and providing a fine-dining experience for customers.
Bistro112 will now be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. For more information, call 304-876-8477.
