Harmony to offer yoga sessions in August

By Staff | Aug 5, 2011

Shepherdstown’s Harmony Healing Arts Center announces that its second summer yoga session will soon begin on Aug. 14.

Co-studio owner Terry Lindsay said the program lineup is meant to foster health and balanced living. The offerings include classes like “Back-Care Yoga,” which targets postures that help maintain a pain-free back; “Yin Yoga,” which focuses on restoring and maintaining movement of the joints in the lower back, pelvis and hip sockets; and “Yoga Basics,” which emphasizes spine alignment, breath and therapeutic benefits of yoga.

According to a recent study by the American College of Sports Medicine, yoga can help improve your mental state, lower your blood pressure, improve your flexibility and increase your muscular strength and endurance.

The second session is six weeks long, Aug. 14 through Sept. 24. There are classes every day of the week.

Students can register for a single class or purchase a class pass for unlimited class access.

In addition to yoga classes, Harmony offers private sessions in massage therapy, Reiki, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Tai Chi, Qigong and nutrition and health counseling.
