Shepherd University will host Shippensburg University for Ram Gridiron Club Day on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

Kickoff is slated for noon at Ram Stadium.

The Ram Gridiron Club will be hosting a pre-game tailgate in the lot behind

Scarborough Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 per person and Ram Gridiron Club members are admitted free.

Shepherd and Shippensburg will meet in the 14th annual Great Valley Classic. The Rams hold a 9-4 classic series edge, but Shippensburg holds a 27-19 lead in the all-time series.

Super Region One title and advanced to the national semifinals in 2010.

Shippensburg, coming off a 5-6 season in 2010, enters the 2011 campaign with much anticipation as Mark “Mac” Maciejewski takes over as the head coach after serving as a longtime assistant under Rocky Rees.
