The Scarborough Society of Shepherd University, sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation, will host a reception on Monday, Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. in recognition of the faculty art show on display in the Scarborough Library Reading Room from Sept. 12 to 24. The exhibit is part of the ongoing Scarborough Art and Lecture Series at Shepherd University. The reception and exhibit are open to the public.

The Scarborough Library exhibit is running in conjunction with a separate display of faculty works at Shepherd University’s Frank Center. Several faculty members have submitted their work to be featured in the shows, which feature a wide range of media, including photography, printmaking and mixed media.

“At the beginning of each academic year, the art faculty look forward to sharing their work with students and the community. We believe it is important for students to see the work produced by those they know primarily as teachers,” said Rhonda J. Smith, chair of the Department of Contemporary Art and Theater.

“The exhibits displayed in the Scarborough Library and the Frank Center will provide a forum for exchange and discussion that reinforces the value Shepherd faculty place on staying current in their field and the importance of learning beyond the classroom,” she said.
