Area students invited to audition

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Maryland Symphony Orchestra will hold its 2nd Annual Vocal Competition for middle and high school students in the quad-state area on Friday, Sept. 23, 7:30 p.m. at the Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown.

Students in grades 6 through 12 are being asked to submit audition recordings to the MSO by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16. These recordings should be no longer than three minutes in length and either of the Broadway show tune, pop standard or classical genre; no top 40. Finalists will be notified by close of business on Monday, Sept. 19 and will perform live, with piano accompaniment, for a panel of judges on Friday Sept. 23 at the theatre.

The winner will be announced at the MSO Pops! “Wicked Divas” concert on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. at the Maryland Theatre. All finalists will receive two free tickets to attend the concert.
