By Staff | Sep 15, 2011

The 36th Annual Mountain Heritage Arts and Crafts Festival will take place Sept. 23 to 25, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Approximately 200 juried artists and craftspersons from 11 states will demonstrate their created work at the festival. Pottery, basket making, weaving, painting and making small hay bales will be featured.

The festival partnered with AHA! Arts and Humanity Alliance and CraftWorks to add a children’s craft tent where children from ages 3 to 12 can enjoy making crafts on Saturday and Sunday at no cost.

For those that enjoy bluegrass music, Patient Pending, Dan Paisley & Southern Grass and, new this year, The Hillbilly Gypsies will play. They will perform on Saturday and Sunday. For more information on the bands and to get the schedule, visit www.jeffersoncountywvchamber.org/festival.

West Virginia Wineries participating again this year are Forks of Cheat Winery, Morgantown; Heston Farm Winery, Fairmont; Kenco Farms, Sutton; Kirkwood, Summersville; Potomac Highland Winery, Keyser; Vu Ja De Vineyard, Spencer; Watt’s Roost, Lewisburg; and West-Whitehill Winery, Moorefield. Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 17. Parking, arts/crafts demonstrations, wine tasting, live bluegrass music and children’s crafts and face painting are included in the price of admission; there is a slight additional charge for the moon bounce sponsored by Great Inflates.
