Women’s soccer 1-3 overall
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg handed Shepherd University a 2-0 setback in women’s soccer action at Shippensburg on Wednesday.
The Lady Raiders took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Brittany Hibshman at the 10:13 mark.
Rhonda Runion scored on a pass from Katie Leverentz at the 29:23 mark to complete the scoring.
Shepherd goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) had seven saves, while Shelbie Rackley and Samantha Wood (1 save) combined on a shutout effort for Shippensburg.
Shippensburg had a 20-4 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Shepherd dropped to 0-3 on the season and Shippensburg improved to 2-1.
On Saturday, senior forward Brianna Hines (Woodbridge, Va./Potomac) scored on a header off a corner kick to lift Shepherd University to a 1-0 win over Ohio Valley in WVIAC women’s soccer action at Washington High School.
Shepherd improved to 1-3 overall, 1-0 in conference play, while Ohio Valley dropped to 0-2, 0-1.
