‘Rocket Yoga’ presented Sept. 23

By Staff | Sep 16, 2011

Jala Yoga, the yoga studio at Mellow Moods Cafe and Juice Bar, 117 W. German St., Shepherdstown, will offer a special workshop on “Rocket Yoga” on Friday, Sept. 23, from 8 to 10 p.m. The cost of the workshop is a suggested $10 to $15 donation.

Led by Mia Hamza, the Rocket is a non-traditional style of Ashtanga yoga developed by Larry Schultz, considered to be the “bad man” of Ashtanga.

With dynamic sequencing and multiple variations, this style of yoga builds heat, strength and flexibility. Made for all levels of yoga practitioners, the Rocket is definitely fun and designed to “get you there faster.” Instructor Hamza is a 500-hour certified yoga teacher, who received her training with Doug Swenson and his multi-faceted vinyasa style of yoga.

Jala Yoga offers classes seven days a week in the vinyasa style of yoga in which poses flow from one into another. Jala Yoga believes that yoga is accessible and necessary for everyone, and both beginners and seasoned practitioners are welcome.
