The Shamaicans (submitted)
The Shamaicans, a local reggae band, will provide the live music for the Sept. 24 “Barbeque and Beer for Books” event to benefit the Shepherdstown Public Library.
The event, which is being sponsored by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club, will be held outdoors on the lawns of the Bavarian Inn from 4 to 7 p.m. In addition to music, it will feature barbeque and special imported beers on draft.
All proceeds will be used to buy new e-book readers for the library.
The Shamaicans, who perform funk and jam as well as reggae, are popular throughout the tri-state area.
The band’s members include Gena Rockwell, vocals; Chris Crawford, drums; Dominic Valentine, bass; Jeff Kauffman, guitar and vocals; and Jade Pope, backing vocals and keyboard.
Tickets will be $45 per person. Each ticket will be good for a meal and three beers.
Tickets are available at the library or by contacting Rotary member George Alwin at 25443@comcast.net or 304-876-1961. Checks should be made out to the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown.
Tickets will also be available at the event.
