Bus accident leaves few harmed
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, along with other Shepherdstown law enforcement, responded to an accident involving a van and a school bus along Route 480 near Lowe Drive Wednesday, Sept. 20.
A call went out at around 8:43 a.m., according to officer in charge Sgt. R.L. Fletcher of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
A school bus holding children was traveling north along Route 480 towards Shepherdstown when it approached the vehicle, which was stopped in the lane to turn left into Lowe Drive to the Clarion Hotel. Fletcher said when the bus breaked, it slid into the van, which held three passengers.
Two female passengers from the van were transported to Jefferson Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to Fletcher. He said they were experiencing neck and leg pain and just wanted to get checked out.
No passengers on the school bus were harmed.
