Shepherd to host scholarship donors
Shepherd University President Suzanne Shipley and the Shepherd University Foundation will host a donor scholar reception Sunday, Oct. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Erma Ora Byrd Hall Atrium.
The event is held every two years to honor and thank donors who sponsor the Shepherd Foundation scholarship and faculty excellence awards, as well as recognize the scholarship recipients and faculty members who have successfully competed for those awards in that time frame.
The reception will be an opportunity for donors and scholars to mingle and be photographed with Shipley. Ray Alvarez, Foundation president, and Monica Lingenfelter, Foundation executive vice president, are scheduled to speak.
“This event brings together scholarship sponsors with their scholarship recipients, as well as university and volunteer leaders, family, and friends,” Alvarez said in a press release. “For the first time ever, we will also be recognizing those individuals who have received our faculty excellence awards. It’s exciting to see the event grow and evolve with Shepherd University.”
More than 500 endowed and annually funded awards are provided through the Shepherd Foundation. Establishing a named endowed or annually funded award is a simple way to create a long lasting and beneficial legacy and can be done so through the Foundation office.
